10 holiday spots in Poland for active kids (and their parents)

Where Astrid Lindgren would take her children

You know that feeling of longing when, in the middle of winter, you look at photos of turquoise seas? That’s exactly what kids feel when they see pictures of some of our playgrounds. We’re not quite sure what cognitive magic happens in those little heads, but as parents, we’ve seen the spark in their eyes and heard the demands for an immediate transfer to the place in the photo. So here it is, a list of places with play areas so good, your kids’ eyes might just pop out. And yes, you’ll probably end up going back year after year for the next decade. But hey, we did the same thing when we were kids. And was it really that bad?

Family guesthouse in Szczyrk

Hop to reservation

An iconic on Slowhop for many years. But don’t expect a little mountain hut – this is more like a masterclass in how to host families with kids. Everything here is designed with them in mind. The kitchen ladies know what each age group enjoys and they always consider what parents need – especially when it comes to coffee. Plus: a great little pool, endless fun both indoors and outdoors. But why take our word for it – check the reviews on Slowhop.

'The best slowhop I've ever been to. During our weekend there, we managed to have a great rest. The guest is taken care of from A to Z, very comfortable conditions in the apartment, delicious breakfast with local products, well-designed children's playroom, location next to a tourist trail. We will definitely come back.'.

Two cottages with an awesome playground in the mountains

See and book on Slowhop

And in Rabka, there are two cottages, each for 6 people. This is the place for those who prefer to stay without hosts on site. The list of kids’ attractions here is longer than a presidential candidate’s list of promises. There's a huge indoor play area, ziplines, ball pits and a magic carpet (gesture-controlled projector). Just go for it. And one more big ask: please book through Slowhop. Thanks to your bookings, Slowhop can keep writing these roundups and finding the best places out there.

'We came for a short trip with 2 children to one of the cottages. The place is great for a short or long stay. It's best to come with friends, occupy two houses and enjoy the silence and the large space around the houses where children can run wild without restrictions. The cottages are fully equipped. All amenities for a baby, such as a cot, highchair and bathtub, are available on site, so you don't have to bring anything with you, which is a huge convenience. Playground - brilliant :). Instead of demolishing the greenhouse, the owners came up with the idea to create a covered space for children to play in it, so that even when it rains, the children have their own place. A magic carpet installed in the house is also a great idea for fun for children and adults. Rabka is also a good base for exploring the mountains and nearby towns and trails. In one word - the cottages are wonderful and I certainly recommend them to anyone traveling with children!'.

Apartments 10 minutes from the beach

See and book on Slowhop

Dębki, 4 apartments, 10 minutes from the beach. Remember the first place we dedicated to train enthusiasts? Here’s something from the other side. A full-scale kitchen, though designed for little ones. Too early to cook? Hold my diaper... The playground in Enklava isn’t just a regular playground, it’s thoughtfully designed according to Maria Montessori’s principles. And tell me, our hosts aren’t setting the bar high enough.

'A great place to relax by the Baltic Sea. The cottages are located in a secluded part of Dębki, where, outside the season, nothing can disturb our peace. A fantastic playground for kids, it was hard to pull our daughters away from the fun. The cottages are very well-equipped, comfortable, thoughtful, and very clean. The beautiful beach is just a 10-minute walk away. We highly recommend this place.'.

Eco farm with its own zip line

Check this place out and book now

A bestseller on Slowhop, heading to Lubelszczyzna. Amazing job by Kasia and Rafał, who have kids themselves and could get a PhD in how to keep them entertained. On-site, you’ll find a zip line, an indoor playroom, building blocks, creative workshops, carriages, animals, and honestly, we could go on forever. Plus, a few things for the parents: homemade breakfasts smelling of pancakes, two hot tubs, a sauna, an apitherapy house, and just a stone's throw away from Kazimierz Wielki.

'A great place with a delicious breakfast (the pancakes and pancakes are simply amazing - a very special bow to the M. ladies), home-made jams, cheeses, etc., and then resting on a net in the barn. The child ran around the grounds from morning to night, or looked at the sheep (the young ones were bottle-fed), next door to get milk and look at the cow, visited the animal farm and watched the bees, or cuddled with little kittens. Plus a bonfire, cycling, massages (just a pleasure) and a very well-equipped cottage with air conditioning. A great starting point for visiting Kazimierz, Nałęczów, Lublin and many other attractions in the area (everyone will find something for themselves). We definitely recommend it.'.

Agro in Beskid Mały

In the Beskid Mały, they don’t hold back. 4 cottages, in the middle of the forest, with sheep, goats, and other animals, plus a playroom, playground, and a huge trampoline. And a nice bonus for the parental soul: they bake delicious rye bread, and you can order organic products. A truly great place, highly recommended.

Guesthouse in the Drawskie Lake District

Take a look and book here

West Pomerania. We send parents with little ones, even newborns, because the silence here is as still as a mouse. Right in front of the guesthouse, there's a great area for rolling in the grass and picking raspberries from the bushes. Just around the corner is a summer pool and cherry trees to sit in. But the real hit is the playroom in the barn. Marta, the hostess of Żurawi, is a professional in interior design and searched for inspiration for a long time. It's got everything, including a climbing wall and a vegetable shop. We feel obliged to mention that the breakfast could be better. Nearby, you can buy delicious honey.

'We are very pleased with our stay. We were amazed by the huge area of Siedlisko! For children, there is a huge playground in the barn (slide, lots of toys, table football, ping-pong table and much more) and in the garden. The breakfasts were amazing. We didn't miss anything here. We rested, regenerated and that's what we wanted. It was sad to leave. We highly recommend it!'.

Iconic cottages in Kashubia

Book here

A house is not enough! Said the hosts of Mejnówka and changed the name of their place in Kashubia to just that. Here’s one sentence for you: this name is whispered from mouth to mouth, enviously and secretly. If you’re looking for the intimacy of cottages, but also a shared playground, a sports field, and the warmth of your hosts – this is the place.

'Fantastic place to spend time with family and friends, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Mejnówka is a great spot for 3-4 families with kids, ideally with friends. That way, the entire house and grounds are exclusively for us. This was our first time here. The uniqueness of this place is the 'infrastructure for kids' :) Mrs. Natalia took care of literally everything that could interest kids aged 3-16 (we had such a range among our 6 kids). Another thing is the location of these attractions. They are all in sight, and we have a great 'view' of the kids while we can sit outside the house or in the bath :). The field itself – AMAZING. The house itself worked great. It’s furnished with attention to detail, and the equipment allows you to not bring anything from home. At the start, we were given nicely prepared firewood (in large quantities) to heat the bath, light the fireplace, or make a bonfire. We used everything, as Mrs. Natalia herself encouraged us to do. The surroundings of the house and playground, surrounded by a huge forest, give us a sense of great privacy and peace. A place we will definitely consider again when planning our next trips'.

The hit cabins near Warsaw

Make a reservation here

This is where the kids will have the time of their lives! Just a short drive from Warsaw, Ania and Łukasz have created a totally unique, custom-built playground just for them. A zip line for racing, a pirate ship sandpit, a little shop house, swings, a game table... and the tiniest forest critters can be discovered by watching the guests at the bug hotel. Meanwhile, parents can relax with a coffee, get some work done, or read a book on the terrace. An hour from the city, 6 cabins in the forest, and two charming rivers nearby, with the closest one just a 100 meters away.

'Such a cool place! We’ve never traveled this close to Warsaw, but it turned out to be great. There are five or six cabins, but they’re spaced out so it doesn’t feel crowded. The sauna and the hot tub are awesome. It's an ideal spot for mushroom picking. The cabins are top-notch with great equipment.'.

Cabins on the dune

Book here

This is a place that informed us about the narrow-gauge railway passing right next to it, and although it passes quietly, it might be bothersome for some guests. To this, our Maja from the team, a mother of dragons herself, exclaimed that for her boys, it’s the best thing in the world. They could watch trains all day and could probably live at the train station. So if you have kids like that, and also appreciate hosts who go out of their way to keep the kids entertained, come here. Additionally, the Baltic beach is just a 15-minute walk away, and there are great bike paths around.

'Another unique place on the Slowhop map. f someone asks me for a recommendation for a charming spot by the sea, where every detail delights, I will undoubtedly point to Sobieszówka. Beautiful houses, comfortable conditions, well-equipped, with extremely well-kept and charming surroundings. Away from the hustle, noise and crowds. And the owners! From the first seconds you are aware of the hospitality of extremely warm people. Passionate, committed, providing attractions for the youngest (bonfire, open-air cinema). I wholeheartedly recommend it!'.

Bullerbyn in the Izera Mountains

Reservations here

Another Slowhop bestseller. Governments change, wars break out, but this place remains at the top of the most booked spots. No wonder, because Pawel and Ania have somehow managed to meet the needs of multiple generations. So, we have the much-praised spa area, an outdoor playground, an indoor playground, a yurt for gatherings, a pool in summer, snow in winter, and on top of that, amazing breakfasts made from local products. You’ll talk bikes with Pawel. He’s completely obsessed with them.

'This will be a comprehensive review - we’ve been coming to Gajówka with our family for the 4th time, and we are delighted every time. The hosts are incredibly kind and very helpful, the breakfasts are excellent - they truly embrace the principle of local products - starting with all kinds of cheeses, cold cuts, honey, hot dishes, and even homemade liqueurs, which can occasionally be sampled in the dining room downstairs. The place is magical and taken care of in every detail - you just want to return. Additionally, it is a place that is constantly developing - practically every year, there is something new - this year, we were positively surprised by the workshop yurt, where besides workshops for kids, you can also attend a fairy tale screening in the evening or do some morning exercises (there’s plenty of exercise equipment). This time we visited in winter, and sleds for children are available on-site - so you can fully enjoy winter activities. After an active day, you can have coffee and snacks in the shared kitchen (there is always some cake available with coffee). I highly recommend it - five stars is not enough to express our admiration for this place.'.
