If you're looking for a rural getaway away from city hustle, head to Lisy in Masuria. Here, people and animals live side by side. Activities start at dawn and end at dusk, and there’s plenty of opportunities to befriend every member of the acacia family: dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, goats, chickens, ducks, geese—and of course the host Tomek. Kids hunt for crayfish in the pond, braid horse manes, and canter through the woods. Meanwhile, parents curl up with a cat on their lap and sing 'nothing to do, no worries…'

At Jelonki Village in the Great Forest, kids have plenty to do. In summer, they roll 'dumplings' in the mud kitchen, set up playhouses in the garden, practice circus moves on the trampoline, care for the furry residents, and organize table football tournaments and their own games. When dark clouds gather over the outdoor play area, they move indoors—where the real fun begins. Think of a Polish version of Duncan’s Toy Chest from Home Alone, complete with ribbons for cartwheels, a mini master chef kitchen, and a treasure trove of books and board games.

At Bazyl Farmstay, you might catch workshops on making paper flowers with Andrzej—but that’s just the start of the creative fun. Join Dorota for ceramic 'Bieszczady angel' workshops or try the potter’s wheel. You can learn about animal care and look after the farm’s residents: green-legged chickens led by rooster Rosół, a Shetland pony named Igor, wrzosówka sheep, a dog, and a bunch of kittens. Thanks to Andrzej and Dorota, city kids discover that potatoes don’t grow on trees, bees don’t live in honey jars, and milk isn’t just powder.

A great spot for parents who want their kids busy with playmates. At Bazyl, children are too busy for screens or brushing teeth before bed. Nearby are hiking and biking trails, Solina Lake is close, and the hosts are happy to share their best tips. Breakfast is included.

Whenever Monday blues hit, we close our eyes and imagine being here—at Bożena and Janek’s place in Kashubia. The air smells of warm straw, freshly picked berries end up in pierogi and on purple-lipped smiles, and kids spend all day outdoors and in the lake. Adults sip homemade liqueurs and enjoy long chats. For kids, it’s a paradise: a frog’s jump to the lake, a herd of animals to feed (led by Elvis the goat), trees to climb, and secret hideouts to discover.

“Thank you to the hosts at the homestead for a wonderful September weekend! […] The abundant breakfasts were a treat—local cheeses, cold cuts, garden veggies, farm eggs, and freshly baked breads and rolls made just for us. We had pots of mint tea, marigold infusion, coffee, and cocoa. Then came hot pancakes with raspberries… we couldn’t even fit the chocolate cake 😍 Mr. Janek guided us around the property, showing the girls the chickens, the forest with huts and hammocks, the sandpit with toys, mushroom-hunting spots, and lake docks with deck chairs. He even gave us rides on his Ursus tractor 🤩 Mrs. Bożena cooked for us and brewed herbal teas, then took us to milk, brush, and pet the goats. Pure bliss! We recharged and left with a sweet longing to return… We’ll definitely be back and recommend this to anyone seeking peace among forests and lakes ❤️ The owners are friendly and made us feel at home—thank you so much!”‍

Remember those childhood village holidays? If your kids haven’t experienced them yet, Zaborze can help. Start simply: sleep in the hay, leap through puddles, build stick forts, and stack pancake towers. Fun is measured in scraped knees, conquered trees, and muddy faces (reminders of morning pancakes). Little explorers will also find a ropes course (40m zip line, tree ropes, trampoline, slide, slackline), and if the weather turns, a barn full of surprises: nets on an upper level, bridges, tunnels, a fireman’s pole, and a whole squad of toys. In the Kociewie region, it’s worth kicking back with a herd of horses or trying your hand at riding. Smiles are guaranteed thanks to the animal crew: horses, chickens, rabbits, cats, a pony, and a dog. Keeping everyone on track are Klaudia and Oskar. Before becoming hosts, Oskar worked as a DJ and in gastronomy; now he’s a blacksmith and sauna master. Klaudia teaches riding and leads the Żuraw kitchen—they say her braided challah makes your stomach sing. Kids here have their own agenda: petting, feeding, and caring for animals, while parents get to relax. Here’s the proof:

“We spent a week here with our family of four—girls aged 3 and 5. I even finished a book, which shows how amazing this place is (my husband relaxed too!). The girls spent maybe two hours inside all week. Just watching nature and the horses was relaxing. The hosts were very hospitable, helpful, and caring. We felt well looked after and well fed. Save this address—when you run out of family activity ideas, Agnieszka and Bogdan will supply new ones. In their Izerska workshop, you can spend your holiday learning pottery, knitting hats, making soaps and bath bombs, and exploring the potter’s wheel. Workshops are for adults and kids. That’s not all—nearby, you can visit the forest gingerbread dispenser by Leśniczy Gałązka, tour the Krobica mine, or hunt for traces of the old village Radoszków. You’ll never find a bored child here.

“We definitely count our stay at Izerski Potok as a success—it’s a wonderful place with positive energy, warmth, and is very child-friendly, though adults can also find comfort in the greenery, the sound of the nearby stream, or chatting with guests. We had a blast with the forge workshops, crafting clay objects :) The apartment with a stained-glass window exceeded my expectations—it’s very spacious with a loft, though watch the steep stairs. The hosts know what makes kids happy. In summer, they organize outdoor sleepovers, and kids nap wherever their imagination takes them. The yard is packed with time-fillers: a thrilling zip line, playground, trampoline, swings, and endless hideouts.

Here’s a first-hand recommendation from our spot tester Victoria—Paweł, the host at Dom w Domu, knows how to please parents and kids. It’s easier to list what you won’t find here: no deep-fried fries or frozen nuggets. Meals are homemade, healthy, and tasty. For dessert, there’s coffee, fruit (unlimited), and something sweet served to keep the sugar rush in check. You won’t wonder how to entertain the kids with sticks and stones—they have a yurt full of games (board games, tracks, trains, table football, and a mini Da Vinci kit), a multimedia room with Xbox and Nintendo, and in high season, childcare so parents can relax. There’s a fair schedule for the jacuzzi too—kids swim from 4 to 7pm, then adults take over. Did we mention the zip line?

“Great place for families with kids! We only stayed two nights after hiking in the mountains, and it was perfect for rest. You don’t have to leave the property—there’s a big area with loads of kids’ attractions, activities, delicious food, and coffee! Despite other families being here, you can find your own corner, and the kids quickly made friends. The outdoor games were amazing! We highly recommend it and hope to return someday. Oh, and the sunsets are magical.”‍

If your kids have the energy of Bugs Bunny on double espresso, take them to Siedlisko na Wygonie—9 hectares of green to balance their power. This place began when the current host’s father saved two old spruces from being cut down and acquired a few hectares of land. Formerly pastures, today it’s home to 12 wonderful sheep—the perfect spot to meet Shaun the Sheep. Kids get a real country adventure: feeding the woolly residents, lake trips, crayfish hunts, and tasting the best potato pancakes in this part of Masuria. If your little ones have fins instead of feet, rev the engine—water fun awaits. On-site, there’s a pond for fishing or a refreshing swim, and just 1.7km away is Inulec Lake with a private beach and watercraft (all included). Venture further to a wild forest beach with crayfish and floating islets. Mermaids love it here.

This place is perfect for travelers who want to high-five the Warsaw Mermaid but aren’t looking for city breaks. A family haven just outside the capital, created by Ania and Łukasz. Think 2,000 m² of playground: kids explore unknown lands on a pirate ship, build Tarzan strength on a zip line, practice target throwing with pine cones, role-play shopkeepers in a village store, and in hot weather grab one of the free bikes to pedal down to the river. Alexandria scores points with parents too: a fenced area, a terrace with a view of happy little ones, and a mini spa zone. Simply smurftastic!
