10 Slowhop spots with big windows and stunning views

Okno na Tatry joined Slowhop recently but quickly made a name for itself. Wojtek, a mountain and cycling enthusiast (and author of a guide to Tatra bike routes), discovered the hill above Dursztyn, a remote village in southern Poland with postcard-perfect views. He knew he couldn’t ignore it, so he built three cozy pods called Okno na Tatry. The philosophy here is “make views not walls,” so you’ll enjoy the peaks from the sofa, bed, and your breakfast table. Couches face the windows, and you climb a ladder to a lofted bed to gaze at the mountain panorama.

Okno na Tatry offers uninterrupted views of the Tatra peaks and sleeps four. There’s internet, but you won’t need it when the scenery is this good. No pets allowed. Keep in mind that Poland’s Podhale region isn’t the Alps—there are other buildings nearby, but they don’t block the view.

Two cabins made from shipping containers stand on the edge of the Biebrza marshes, the brainchild of a lifelong Warsaw resident and one of Poland’s trendiest online personalities. The windows bring nature inside—forests, mist over the marshes, deer, elk, birds, and the open sky above Sojczynek. It’s hard to tell whether you’re sleeping in the forest or in an upcycled container, and that delicious uncertainty hits just right, especially from the bedroom bed or while half-reclined in the Finnish barrel sauna. There’s plenty of hiking nearby, lush greenery in summer, and a good chance you’ll spot an elk.

These cabins are perfect for couples—or any two people. You’ll find a welcome package with wine and local treats (including vegetarian options). If you manage to get out of bed, we recommend misty baths, barefoot walks on the grass, and visiting the local Biebrza witch.

This Treehouse Oddech sits on a hill of lupins near Nałęczów, a spa town known for buckwheat-stone massages, hay therapy, mud cuisine, and a fantastic outdoor game designed by the hosts. Far from the noise but close to the region’s picturesque ravines, healthy cuisine, and herbal spa treatments, it’s a four-person retreat among the treetops with sunrise views. There’s no TV—programming changes with the daylight, and it energizes more than drains. You can nap on the sofa while watching a roe deer nibble fresh leaves or switch to the wind-in-the-trees channel from the terrace. In the evening, climb to the loft for a star-filled sky show.

Breakfasts arrive in a wooden box at your door and feature local delights: a jug of milk and farm-fresh treats. For something heartier or an internal massage, visit the heavenly restaurant “Niebo i Las.” And yes—no Wi-Fi means a true reset.

Dominika searched for her place in the world across Poland and France, near Babia Góra and the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland—only to land in Ropek, an old Lemko village in the Low Beskids. There, between mountain springs and streams, she created Manichatki: three restored huts with turquoise shutters. Two are for guests; the third is Dominika’s home with her daughter Manuela, who gave the site its name. Each hut has huge windows in every direction, and Chatka Mani adds a glassed-in orangery with a fireplace and swinging armchair—like being at the heart of nature. Every visitor says it’s magical and joins the club of return guests.

Come for peace, open space, and views of the Low Beskids through four-directional shutters. Nearby is a Buddhist retreat center, and the nearest ski lift in Smerekowiec is just 10 km away. No meals are provided, but there’s a wood-fired kitchen and local goodies from neighbors. Pets are welcome. Don’t miss the new meadow-integrated hut called Norka.

Siedlisko Sobibór has been part of our family for nearly its entire journey. That charming round window still feels like stepping into a fairy tale—and it’s no movie set. It started with a resin cabin tucked in the Sobibór Landscape Park and grew into a micro-village in Poland’s Polesie region, where nature is celebrated, silence is savored, and real food—warm bread included—is shared. You can stay in historic buildings or treehouse cabins. The star-shaped Beehive Studio, with a 200-year-old wooden window overlooking the meadows, is only open in warm months.

We love Ewelina and Artur’s project on the slopes of Kiczera in the Silesian Beskids, where they went against traditional ski resort architecture to build sleeping drawers. Two cascading buildings with hanging bedrooms can host two to four people—who wouldn’t want to sleep in a sliding drawer with a view? Guests line up, eager to claim their spot, whether it’s to stretch out in a drawer, warm up in the sauna or barrel bath, or let kids sail inflatable boats indoors by the pool. Mornings are magic, when mist hugs the trees and deer bob their heads in wonder at the new shapes on Kiczera. Winter’s just as fun, with the slope right outside your door. The terrace is perfect for sunbathing. No breakfasts are offered, but the kitchen is fully equipped, and a shop is nearby. There’s also a trampoline and playground for kids. Great base for shorter or longer mountain hikes. We’ll definitely return.”

An all-inclusive Beskid experience with two cottages, a great host, Magura National Park all around, waterfalls, and Klimkówka reservoir. From mountains to lakes: welcome to Masuria. This five-bedroom house is perfect for a family reunion or friends’ getaway. Share meals or find your own corner—the house is spacious, the garden even more so, and the lake views never get old. You’ll hardly see any other humans; hosts Justyna and Marek say their only neighbors are swans in the bay and a sea eagle nesting nearby. Explore the lake with two SUP boards and two kayaks, or wander the forests on foot or bikes (two provided, bring more if you can). Kids (and adults) will love the outdoor playground with a tipi and treehouse.
