10 Slowhop spots for singles

10 Slowhop spots for singles

The best solo travel destinations in Poland

We recently had a request to put together a list of places you can visit solo. Spots where single rooms are available or where they charge you a reasonable single supplement, and nobody bats an eye at solo travelers or asks you about your age, your reasons, or how many cats you have. Places where you can hide out after a breakup, try some animal therapy, enjoy some silence, soak in a bathtub, catch up on books by Nobel laureate Olga Tokarczuk, or sit on the porch with a coffee and ponder existence. You can do it all there. We considered solo rates, shared spaces, and chances to meet interesting people. If you’ve ever thought about a trip like this, here are our recommendations.

Willa Tadeusz

Book a stay

Lanckorona is always a good idea for solo travelers. First, it’s easy to reach, even without a car. Second, there are at least two great cafés where you can settle in with coffee and your laptop. Third, it’s a perfect spot for artistic souls, history buffs, and anyone looking for those picture-perfect moments. Willa Tadeusz is a family guesthouse dating back to 1924 (named after Tadeusz, the great-grandfather and grandfather). Despite the passage of time and challenging historical events, it has survived. Today, Kasia welcomes guests, and the place features a 1950s stone pool, historic interiors, delicious breakfasts, satisfying lunches and dinners, and that magical Lanckorona atmosphere, best experienced with apple cake at Cafe Arka.

Slowhop says: It’s a fantastic solo getaway (and they count the single rate as for one person). Meals are served right to your table, and the town square is just a stone’s throw away. The villa is quite old, so rooms don’t have private bathrooms; there’s a shared bathroom on the ground floor. There are 40 beds in total, but guests respect the vintage charm—no sliding down banisters here—and the garden has space for pool lovers and anyone craving peace under the trees. Pets are welcome, too.

'I don’t remember being in such a special place. A magical house filled with nooks, family heirlooms, a stone pool straight out of a Tuscany postcard, a huge garden, and plenty of lounge chairs so everyone can relax under the trees. I wanted a few days of relaxation with a book in hand and couldn’t have chosen better. We opted for full board, and Kasia and her wonderful team fed us homemade delights from morning till night. The Russian-style pancakes and plum pierogi are still on my mind, and I could eat that mushroom sauce three times a day with everything. Guests kept quiet out of respect for the place, everyone was friendly and smiling but not intrusive. We’ll definitely be back, probably with more friends, since Willa Tadeusz has plenty of room. Lanckorona itself charmed us with its rural vibe, architecture, and views.'

Nad Łąkami

Book your stay

From what reliable sources tell us, the whitewashed rooms here soothe the soul, and being so close to the Baltic Sea and a beach without rows of windbreakers helps even more. Guests gather at a communal table to celebrate breakfast first, then savor a four-course dinner—and if you spot them in the garden, you never know if they’re folding carrots after yoga or bending into a pose. You can go off on your own, but at Nad Łąkami, paths often cross, and friendships are formed to last. If peace is what you need, we recommend relaxing with a book on a garden lounger (no reservation needed), wandering the nearby meadows and cliffs, meditating on the empty beach, or doing absolutely nothing.

Slowhop says:

Nad Łąkami has a nice yoga studio, but if you want solitude, try yoga on the beach or meditation on Czołpino Dune. A short trip away on Lake Grodno you can rent kayaks, SUP boards, or even try windsurfing. In summer there are quite a few families with children, so keep that in mind.

'Heaven on earth! Such a beautiful and atmospheric place that I was speechless. It only got better. The food was delicious, the atmosphere felt like home. No noise, a 30-minute walk to the beach with almost no people. We managed to erase our image of tacky seaside resorts. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to disappear for a moment. Cheers and we’ll be back for sure!'

First, this isn’t some back-of-beyond village—this is something bigger. You won’t hear a rooster crow or kids fighting over a shovel, though if you look around maybe you’ll find a few. Instead you’ll get a sea breeze and ultra-comfy beds in a historic townhouse. We have a soft spot for Sopot, especially off-season, and it returns our love by bringing us people and places like this. Agnieszka is an interior designer who renovates old buildings and offers seven adults-only double apartments in a cozy, hygge style with eco toiletries, a glassed-in veranda with a library, and a bathtub fit for royalty.

Slowhop says:

In summer they open a covered patio and a rooftop terrace. Leave the car behind and come by train—Sopot’s train station is so central you won’t miss a thing. Singles pay 30% less for a double room.

Leśna Kryjówka

Book your stay

This is a real hideaway, deep in Bory Tucholskie, a forested region in northern Poland, where you can arrive in pajamas or sweatpants and nobody will bat an eye at your solo-served meals or wearing the same sweater at breakfast and lunch. Yes, we know we talk about food a lot, but for us, relaxation and digestion go hand in hand. After a stay here, you’ll agree and leave thinking you’d been living on water and bread until tasting Kasia and Jacek’s cooking. There’s a lake with a pier just steps away, Tibetan singing bowl sound massages, and before you know it you’ll have had a detox—no phone signal, but plenty of water, silence, and a kitchen to inspire poems. Trust us.

Slowhop says:

At Leśna Kryjówka, single travelers pay 10% less for a double room occupied alone. You can bring your dog, but check with the hosts first and keep in mind there are three cats here. If you like beer, the nearby village of Tleń offers a local brew that’s surprisingly good.

House Among the Willows (Adults-Only Retreat)

Book your stay

A true women’s republic by the Bug River, for adults only, where ID checks happen at the door and Basia and eight other women rule the roost. They run an organic farm certified eco-friendly: solar panels heat the water, towels and linens aren’t ironed unless you ask, and you can swap them out any time. It’s perfect for cozy evening gatherings with a glass of homemade liqueur in one hand and a cat in the other. The house sits next to the Bug River, which unveils wild beaches in summer, and if you’re game, you can join workshops in painting, woodworking, wicker weaving, and natural cosmetics making, or take a kayak trip through Bug’s wetlands.

Slowhop says:

No dogs at House Among the Willows—resident dog Synek prefers not to share—but cats are welcome. Enjoy the sauna, herbal baths in the garden tub by the river, kayaks, bikes, and the wild riverside “jungle.” Here you pay per person.

'A fantastic place to escape everyday hustle and overstimulation. At the communal table you meet open-minded people; after meals you relax with a book in the company of friendly cats and Synek, who will nuzzle your legs with his sweet little muzzle. Walking around helps clear the mind and connect with the wonderful nature. And host Basia is warm and welcoming. Highly recommended.'

Złoty Jar

Book a stay

We know Złoty Jar is everywhere, but we couldn’t leave it out. First, they offer single rooms at a very reasonable rate, and if you need to forget your worries or shift your focus, Gosia and Maciek will look after you. If you care about the planet, you’ll fit right in: zero waste policy, vintage furniture, tablecloths from second-hand shops, and if you collect trash in the nearby forest, they’ll thank you with a free coffee. Gosia is a writer and traveler, and Maciek heads the local Gold Mine tours, which you can join. And yes, they have pierogi—just like you probably guessed.

Slowhop says:

Your stay at Złoty Jar includes breakfast, but you can also order full board (and you should), and they even brew craft beer. The guesthouse has 40 beds, so it’s not exactly remote, but it still feels friendly, cozy, and very homely.

'Wonderful place and people! If you’re looking for a peaceful spot in beautiful surroundings, book immediately! The incredibly friendly staff make every guest feel expected, not just another customer. Thank you for a lovely weekend, homemade cake after a day of hiking, and delicious breakfasts.'

Alpakarium

Show me

If animal videos on a Monday morning calm you better than a sedative, imagine that happiness in real life… Just outside Warsaw is a place for adults (or almost adults) where 30 alpacas live and they don’t mind a cuddle. You can take an alpaca for a walk, learn patience, cuddle again, feed them herbs, and watch them chew, flutter their eyelashes, and try to decode their beauty-secret rituals. After you tuck the alpacas in, dive into a book from the on-site library or swap stories over grilled sausages by the fire with the hosts or other guests. You’ll leave with a smile stuck on your face and muscles you never knew you had from all that “alpaca-teeth stretching.”

Slowhop says:

Going to cuddle alpacas means your phone’s storage will fill up fast—we warned you. No filters needed. The attic has four rooms, and you pay a very reasonable rate for a solo stay in a double room (breakfast included). Interiors are rustic with a designer touch. The hosts are so kind and put animal welfare first.

'Alpakarium is run by people with huge hearts for these extraordinary animals. They care just as much about their guests. Katarzyna can whip up both a delicious breakfast and a welcoming atmosphere. Wiesław and Agata will answer any question about alpaca care with anecdotes. Simply a good place with good people.'

Przechowalnia Marzeń

Let’s go

If you suddenly crave an escape to the Masurian Lakes, Karolina and Marek run a cozy guesthouse and an artful bistro for breakfast lovers in an apple orchard near Mikołajki, Poland. We featured its charming backstory in our Masuria guide: first there was Karolina, then a door, then Marek the carpenter built the house around it. Stay in one of four rooms, sip that Masurian coffee (from a roastery in Mrągowo) in the bistro at dawn, then wander barefoot through the garden. Mikołajki’s center is just a stone’s throw away, and for hedonists there are two partner spas next door offering special rates to guests.

Slowhop says:

Karolina loves to host events, so check if there’s anything special planned during your visit. They don’t have single rooms, but you pay 20% less for a double room occupied solo.

House at the End of the World

Book now

It seems that good people always settle at the world’s end. Lidka and Maciek left their careers and apartment living for Paszków and the Kłodzko Valley in southwestern Poland. On this remote spot they moved their home and invite you, too. No TVs—life is what happens here, and it’s worth savoring. Instead of screens, you look into people’s eyes, swap stories about rescuing hares, the history of the Kłodzko Valley and this house, all while sipping locally brewed “End of the World” beer.

Slowhop says:

Lidia and Maciek’s house has 18 beds and full board. You pay a solo supplement equal to a single share—no extra room charge. Feel free to bring a pet, but remember there are hares, cats, and goats on site and check with the hosts first.

'A fantastic place with a homely vibe, amazing food, and stories shared at the communal table. Perfect for escaping the noise and finding yourself among hares, cats, and deer grazing outside at night… The hosts are warm and welcoming, creating the perfect atmosphere with jazz in the background. Highly recommended!'

Holistic Retreat

Book a stay

Halfway between Warsaw and Białystok, where the road turns to gravel and there are no dance halls in fire stations, the Bug River flows slowly and lazily, letting you revel in doing nothing—unless you feel like doing something. Sunbathe, bike, hide under a grape arbor, or spend hours gazing at the river’s flow and feeding your inner child with raw milk cheeses from a local farmer.

Slowhop says:

If you’re a dog lover, know that at Holistic Retreat there’s a big ball of fur named Namastek who, according to rumors, attracts some guests more than the river itself. And the neighbor supposedly makes great moonshine.

'A great place for blissful relaxation and recharging. You can sleep in, eat well, and spend time with Agnieszka and Irek—the wonderful hosts whose passion shows in every detail. A highlight is friendly Namastek :-) Highly recommended.'
