Warmia: slow(hop) edition. 10 slow holiday stays in Poland

You probably haven’t discovered this side of Warmia

Beautiful lakes, red rooftops, Copernicus, roadside chapels, cats in old windows, towns in the Cittaslow network (places where nobody rushes), Warming—these are just a few of the lovely things that come to mind when we think of Warmia, a beautiful yet less touristy region in northern Poland. Here, “less is more” really means something: nature lovers, peaceful swimmers, farm-to-table food fans, and those craving intimate downtime will find all the ingredients for a perfect slow vacation.

Here are 10 spots in Warmia (see part one here) that will almost certainly leave you thinking, “Isn’t Poland amazing!” Ready for the challenge?

Two cozy cottages by a lavender field

Book a peaceful stay

When we read about this place in a book, we said “Let’s go! We have to meet Asia, who created this from the first seed!”. Indeed, the host—ultra modest—has built something legendary. And now you can stay here! You’ll find two charming wooden cabins, praised for their cleanliness and thoughtful amenities. Even a long stay feels like home. You can cook yourself, but we highly recommend the host’s delicious vegetarian menu. And the lavender! Its scent and color announce it from afar. Visit in season to join the harvest, wander through the lavender maze with a breeze in your hair, or simply relax on the terrace with a favorite drink. Don’t miss the Living Lavender Museum and a workshop on natural cosmetics. You can also explore the botanical garden, forage for mushrooms in the forest, or lose yourself in a book with lavender syrup tea. Sound like a plan?

“We spent wonderful, peaceful days here. The cabin was perfect—clean, warm, and cozy. All around was quiet, with the scent of lavender and lavender pastries in the air. Moments on the terrace will stay with us forever. The lavender syrup in the shop is amazing, and so is the bread. We added the host’s tasty breakfasts and dinners—will definitely come back 100%. ”

Farmstay with a spa in a henhouse and endless green views

Time to unwind here

Wellness in a former henhouse and daily detox in a birch grove? Save your spot now. This place is easily reached by public transport. If you can, plan your visit in late July or early August to indulge in lavender relaxation during the harvest. Guests rave about the gourmet food, the huge terrace overlooking endless greenery, and the lack of cell signal—so you can leave your phone in your suitcase and enjoy a break from ASAPs and the virtual chase for a “better life.” Not enough? Take a walk with Benio, the dog whose life mission is guiding guests through the birch woods, or hop on a bike and feel the wind in your hair like in a shampoo ad. There are SUP boards, boats, canoes, and plenty more to try, so you might want to stay longer and test at least half of the activities waiting for you.

“This place not only dazzled us but stole our hearts. We were looking for a spot to de-stress after our wedding and couldn’t have found better. Our apartment opened onto a terrace where we watched extraordinarily long sunsets. Wipsowo44 is surrounded by meadows full of wildflowers whose scent is indescribable. The venue was spotless and fragrant, and the exercise room beats many hotel gyms. We experienced a new level of peace and will definitely return!”

Budget-friendly farmstay for families and groups

Good for groups

Ladies and gentlemen, here’s a true slice of agritourism! If you want to bring the kids, the kids of your friends, or even their entire class, you could comfortably take over this place. Zbyszek and Monika paid homage to local architecture, showcased regional artists, and can host a large, multi-generational group—just like visiting your favorite cousins in the countryside. Rooms are practical, portions are generous, and the flavors satisfy even the fussiest eater. Outside, you’ll find beaver ponds ideal for slow strolls. Horses, goats, and chickens await your visits and gifts of fresh herbs from nearby meadows. Try archery, ping-pong in the barn, or lie in the grass pretending time doesn’t exist. Evenings bring Zbyszek’s soup, a campfire, and a chorus of frogs. Told the kids yet?

“A wonderful place for everyone! Adults enjoy the beautiful surroundings, peace, and quiet. The kids had a playground and a large common room for bad weather, though they ended up digging in the dirt most of the time. And the food—absolutely delicious! We left feeling entirely spoiled. Thank you for a fantastic stay!”

Guesthouse with Warmia’s specialties for breakfast included

Try the homemade bread

In an old Warmian schoolhouse, you’ll mainly learn to… relax. This spot is just 300 meters from Lake Pluszne, with a private pier, a garden sauna, hammocks under the trees, and breakfasts that inspire thank-you emails. You can hop on a SUP, hide in the garden with a book, or join a sourdough bread workshop and impress your family with your loaves. It’s all about “carefree holidays”: uncrowded scenery, yummy Warmian treats shared among fellow travelers, and dog walks with the owner’s pup who knows the area better than GPS. Breakfast is included, and furry friends are welcome!

“Ah, Warmia—always so peaceful, and my heart feels lighter here. We stayed at this charming guesthouse near Lake Pluszne for a few days, and it truly let us disconnect from daily duties. The hosts were lovely, almost like visiting long-lost family. We will definitely return!”

Atmospheric hotel with a spa and breakfast included

Time for a massage

From Młyn Klekotki to Japan is over 11,000 kilometers, but the hosts shortened that gap: Japan is just a five-minute walk away, in a renovated barn. Here, women can experience the Hanakasumi ceremony with cherry blossom and lotus aromas, and men can choose the Sensei Regeneration ritual, a restorative treatment based on buckwheat from Klekotki fields. Our favorites in the extensive spa menu are the ancient Japanese massages: the energy-boosting Amma and the relaxing Shiatsu. Plan a longer stay—there are plenty of rituals for body and mind, plus sweet, static pleasures. See what else awaits you on site!

“A perfect nature weekend! We paddled, walked the dog through beautiful green surroundings, biked, and enjoyed a delicious lunch and dinner with wine from the estate. We lounged on hammocks by the water, played billiards, and ended the day in the sauna—pure bliss! The reception staff were helpful and smiling from morning to night. We didn’t manage to get the massages we wanted due to high demand, so book those early if they’re a priority. Even so, the trip was absolutely fantastic, and we’re still enchanted by this charming place!”

Farmstay on the Warmian wetlands, with Highland cows in the background

Pet-friendly stay

Pack the kids, the dog, and anyone who loves farm-to-table dining. Many have come here for the praised dishes made largely from the farm’s own produce. You can even watch the Highland cows grazing just beyond the fence. Guests return for the peace, friendly atmosphere, and meals after which you can only lie back and stare at the sky. There’s a sauna with a view, SUP boards, boats, bikes, a bonfire, and a hammock life at “I don’t have to do anything” pace. The rooms are cozy, air-conditioned, and equipped with Netflix—but most time is spent outdoors on the terrace or pier, tea in hand amid silence. Best of all, it feels remote but is easy to reach. Anglers, bring or rent your gear—plenty of fishing awaits nearby.

“The best place we visited in Poland. The standard is excellent, and the host, Ivan, is very helpful and friendly. The food rivals a top city restaurant. Everything you need is here, and in an emergency, a supermarket is just 20 minutes away by car. We’ll definitely return 100%—hopefully soon!”

Affordable farmstay with outdoor pool and orangery

Great price, book it

This place feels like grandma’s house—only here grandma also offers a jacuzzi, a sauna, and an outdoor pool. The breakfasts are so good you’ll eat with enthusiasm and then unbutton your jeans in gratitude. The dog, Boguś, greets guests like long-lost family, and a host of other animals (including pet-friendly horses) boost the rural charm. In the evening, there’s a bonfire, sausages, stars overhead, and chats until dawn—no alarm needed. No one hurries, and everyone goes home relaxed and grateful, maybe with tighter clothes but a looser mind, plus a new contact saved as “Basia, the queen of breakfasts”.

“We loved staying at Chata Pogaduchy. Set among picturesque landscapes, this charming spot blends rustic elegance with modern comforts, offering an unforgettable escape from daily life. One highlight was the culinary experience—dishes made with local ingredients that celebrated the region’s flavors. I wholeheartedly recommend Chata Pogaduchy to travelers looking for a magical retreat.”

Historic log house with a tub and sauna—no neighbors!

Historic stay and silence

This is truly one of a kind: a historic “station” for three couples. It includes a kitchen, a fireplace, an imperial bath with a tub, a garden, and stunning stained-glass windows. Guests say: “Interiors are tasteful, balancing the building’s historic character with modern comfort. (...) Perfect for anyone who loves a heritage-charming atmosphere.” The hosts are professional conservators who’ve done amazing restoration work, honoring every detail of the past. It’s a peaceful retreat where you can lie in the garden with a book and forget Slack exists. Ideal for lovers of design, calm, and unique stories. Go ahead—click to explore.

“An incredible hideaway in the middle of fields! Don’t worry about neighbors peeking through your windows—the location among trees, fields, and the wind’s rustle is perfect. In the living room with garden views, you’ll sip coffee made in the well-equipped kitchen. I won’t spoil all the surprises—you have to discover them yourself. In the bedroom, pictures of dogs, a hammock in the garden, a sauna—do I need to say this is Instagram-worthy? Plus a vinyl collection and record player. What more do you need? Can we return?”

Log cabins by the lake with a private pier and beach

Perfect for families

We won’t insist you must come here. But if you dream of a log cabin by a lake where your coffee tastes better on the terrace and mornings start with “Maybe a kayak ride?”, Widokowo could be your bullseye. There’s a sauna, a private pier with a beach, four SUP boards, two kayaks, a paddleboat, and mountain bikes for adults and kids. Prefer to do nothing? Go ahead. Here, you train for hedonistic idleness. In the evening, gather around a bonfire, gaze at the stars, and be glad you left home. Bring the kids—they’ll love it too, though pets stay at home for this one.

“I have to admit, this is one of the best places we've visited with our 3.5-year-old. We’ve stayed in many spots in Poland and abroad, but here the children had safe play areas and attractions that gave parents a real break :) Huge bonus for the view from the terrace, and the kitchen is equipped for the pickiest cooks. The cabins are clean, beautiful, and practical. The hosts were kind, caring yet unobtrusive—always there when you needed them. We'll definitely return!”

Two small cabins with lake views and record guest ratings

See this place

Finally, our slowhop Olympic champion, awarded a gold medal by 208 guests who rated it 5*! If that’s not the best advertisement, we’re quitting marketing and heading to Warmia. :) Here are two small cabins, each with a terrace and a wood-fired sauna. You get lake views—no beach or swimming area, but plenty of scenery and fishing for avid anglers. Leave the kids and pets at home; this retreat is designed for adults seeking a weekend reset. Once you arrive, you’ll know it was worth the journey.

“A magical spot with soul, perfect for a weekend for two. My wife and I spent an unforgettable stay in the Hytte Łania cabin and are already planning our return. The place is truly exceptional—silence, space, a wild lake, and forest sounds instead of city noise. The cabin’s tasteful decor, with its light palette, brick, and green accents, instantly soothes. Upon arrival, fresh bread from the owner and homemade apple cake greeted us—a delicious gesture that made us feel welcome. The panoramic window keeps you glued to nature from the sofa. At night, we lit the fire and later enjoyed the outdoor wooden sauna for total relaxation. The cabin has everything you need: a comfy bed, a fully equipped kitchen, a great bathroom, and a terrific terrace. The internet works fine, though here you really should log off. Special thanks to the owner—friendly and approachable like a good friend. You can feel the care in every detail, from the retro beach basket to the Netflix projector. It’s the perfect spot to slow down, be together, and catch your breath. I recommend it to anyone seeking a true reset in beautiful, natural surroundings.”
