A house near water? Great. With shoreline access? Unique. But staying on the water? That’s the holy grail. Luckily, the Slowhop team are like vacation-time Indiana Joneses, professionally hunting down and curating the best spots, then sharing them with fans of atmospheric getaways. So yes, we did it again. Here’s a spectacular selection. No need to buy us coffee – just book via Slowhop.
Impressive, right? Tomek, the host, traveled the world, decided water homes were his thing, and built these beauties on a lake in Lubusz. You can cast a fishing line right from the terrace while sipping coffee or tomato juice. If it's windy, just watch the lake and trees from the glass-walled living room. Host a dinner on the rooftop – you rent two houses at once (for up to six people), perfect for close friends or family. Or just chill in a hammock, daydreaming about retirement and generous pension payments.
Every sailor worth their salt knows how to find their way to Sztynort. It’s the Great Masurian Lakes route, folks – sailing into the marina, sea shanties in the air, and captain’s hats on every other head. But the floating cabins? They’re tucked a bit off to the side, where the 10-on-the-Beaufort-scale party vibes don’t quite reach. Still, it’s just a laid-back stroll to grab a quality bite at Baba Pruska (highly recommended), catch a live concert, pop into Memuak – Sztynort’s cultural hub – or even explore the local palace. Add in evening soaks in a hot tub and swims in the lake, and boredom doesn’t stand a chance.
And here, somewhere between Gorzów Wielkopolski and Poznań, we’ve got this water-based concept. Kind of like Africa, but with lots of water. The water comes from Lake Dormowskie, and around it, not a jungle, but a bit of one, because it’s the Greater Poland forest. Now, an important point – we read all the reviews, and it looks like it’s exactly how you like it: everything’s included. Below, one of the trustworthy reviews (from people who book on Slowhop, have been there, and love sharing their experiences). And let’s add that they really know how to host, and I mean all kinds of guests, even the ones with tails. They cook like crazy – vegan, vegetarian, meaty hedgehog, whatever you want. Out of eight tents, four are right by the water, and the rest are still pretty close. Grab this Greater Poland experience, folks, because it’s time to kickstart slow tourism here.
'A real gem of a getaway! A place finely tuned in every way to make guests feel both serene and luxurious. The range of activities is huge – and all without extra charges, carefully thought out (for example, life jackets not just for adults, but also for kids!). The tents are equipped practically and beautifully – no random furniture here, just eye-catching gems. Little details like a wine rack, hooks for mugs, tea infusers… Guests, even if they don’t want to, can’t help but snap a photo and send it to their friends: "Look how awesome this is!" Before we left, the owner let me know there’s no strict infrastructure for kids, but – don’t worry about it! Earthworms for fishing, sticks thrown for Luna into the lake, hammocks at every turn, and other simple, everyday things brought so much joy that our granddaughters didn’t once ask for a phone or mention a cartoon during our 5-day stay!'.
One of the words we don't like is luxury. Well, everyone knows what a horse looks like, and not all of us like sleeping on moss and eating ants from the anthill. So maybe we'll describe it. The houses on the water are located on Lake Jamno in Mielno. If you haven't been there yet, we would like to inform you that Mielno is a seaside resort near Koszalin, and in addition to the golden Baltic Sea beach, it also has a lake. There is no justice in this world (say people from Warsaw). Either way, the houses are located on Lake Jamno, they look like pearls and caviar, they have private saunas, hot tubs, and look great in photos. One note: Mielno in the high season is like Mielno in the high season. If you're looking for a true slow experience – go there in the off-season. And if mass tourism doesn't bother you, we invite you anytime. Just remember, you might be disturbed by the presence of other houses, so this isn't a remote spot!
'A great place to relax. Tastefully designed cottages. Clean and spacious. Out of season, you can easily observe the bird inhabitants of Lake Jamno. The breakfasts deserve special attention - they look beautiful, tasty, and the abundance of baskets allowed you to easily save something for a second breakfast. There is also a nice option with additional orders for drinks, champagne, cake for the house or flowers, which gives you peace of mind when planning a romantic evening. However, you should remember that the water hitting the house in waves can be clearly heard and gently rocks the house. And the reception is a long walk from the center itself, which may be a problem for non-motorized people. To sum up, I definitely recommend it to people looking for a different way to spend their holidays, as well as a romantic trip :))'.
Four words that work like gold: a house by the river near Warsaw. Ok, it's five words, but it's as impressive as Daniel Craig emerging from the water at Casino Royal. Plus word six: a hot tub to chill in under the stars. And seventh: a garden for the dog to run free. And eight: the view of flowing water, which in itself prolongs life by at least a month. It's not a house on the water, but the water flows behind the fence, so it kind of looks like it is.
'It's hard to give 5* because this place deserves 100!* A fantastic refuge, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, right next to the river, BEAUTIFULLY decorated, everything carefully fitted and the house is equipped with everything your heart desires. Great contact with the owner! You don't want to leave places like this. Fully used potential of this place. The 10th trip with friends was very successful and we already know where our 11th will be - we found our place '.
As someone wrote in an opinion (and you must know that the reviews on Slowhop come only from people who made a reservation with us and were actually there): "Well, the equipment of the house is such a gem, its most important feature is the terrace overlooking the lake. Morning coffee on the terrace overlooking the water, and then jumping into the water. And in the evening, peace, quiet and watching the sunset with wine. " I guess there is no need to add anything more, except that we wish you a peaceful swinging, but without very small children (safety is the most important thing!).
'The view of the lake from the living room is breathtaking - because the house floats on the water, it feels as if the lake was an extension of the living room. Peace and quiet are like in a fairy tale. The house is very comfortable and fully equipped. From a suggestion: it would be useful to have a table and chairs on the terrace so that you could eat your meal there. A ladder from the water would also be great - either to the house or to the pier, because it's hard to get out without it. We will come back :)'.
In the Lublin Polesie, there are two yurts by a pond with terraces for yoga and relaxation. The sun peeks into the yurt, the water gently splashes, and you can head over to a nearby restaurant (run by the owners, Grzegorz and Aneta) for crispy fried trout or carp. In short, everything important is right here to pamper your senses. And how’s the sleep in a yurt? In this one, it’s likely better than at home. It smells of wood and fresh bedding. If we were you, we’d hop on a bike for a ride along Green Velo, then devour a trout sandwich and park ourselves in bed with a book. Oh, and maybe a dip in the hot tub or jacuzzi. By the way, you can fish here (no-kill system).
'We were enchanted by this place from the very first moments. The wonderful interior design of the yurt was impressive. It's hot outside and air conditioning in the Yurt - something beautiful. Food? Revelation. I haven't eaten as much fish at the seaside as here. Delicious trout and everything else. The breakfasts are delicious. I like to eat very much. The portions were perfect for me :) we explored nearby areas by bike. A beautiful reservoir nearby. Clean water, perfect for bathing. We will definitely come back. This time with our daughters. Wait for us there!'.
