8 lakeside retreats in Poland with private piers

Handpicked summer stays for lovers of quiet luxury

Here are lakeside stays in Poland for those who prefer stepping off a private pier rather than wading through sand. We’ve included exclusive rentals and charming B&Bs (bed and breakfast) that are perfect for anyone who likes their essentials close at hand and would rather lounge on warm wooden planks jutting into the lake. As you might know, Slowhop stays are intimate—just a handful of guests looking for peace and good food. So if you’re after crowds, long flights and staking out sunbeds at dawn, this isn’t your kind of place.

Bed & Breakfast on a Masurian lake

View and book

Gorło is one of those hidden villages you need insider knowledge to find. It’s known to anyone who’s wandered here chasing Masurian cobblestones and to travelers booking with Slowhop. The house is beautiful and only open to guests from May through September, making it a limited-edition retreat—like a 1958 five-zloty coin stamped with a fisherman. You can reserve apartments with breakfast (details on the Slowhop listing). This spot is perfect for cyclists, and for safety reasons is only open to guests aged 12 and up. No dogs allowed.

'Szara Sowa is an elegant guesthouse located a few kilometers from Stare Juchy (and the famed Na Wzgórzu restaurant, known for its homemade dinners). It offers private access to the lake and a comfortable pier. You can start and end each day with a dip in crystal-clear water (fresh and in a quiet zone), which was my favorite part of the stay. Every morning, the hosts serve delicious breakfasts on the terrace, featuring local cheeses (including goat varieties), cold cuts, greens and vegetables, plus strong, great coffee! Everything on our table disappeared in no time. There are countless bike trails all around, and in June we didn't see a soul. It's a perfect base for exploring both nearby and farther-flung parts of the Masurian Lake District. We'll definitely be back!'

Intimate all-inclusive in the Suwałki region

Discover all-inclusive

The most common reaction to Dolina Żurawi is: really? And all of that is included? The hosts aren’t joking—they offer the house with its acres of land, pier, kayaks, windsurfing gear, tennis court, Russian banya and more, and they insist you don’t pay a thing extra. It’s all part of the experience.

'We’re leaving Dolina Żurawi with heavy hearts. It’s a place where anyone seeking peace, relaxation and a connection with nature finds it all, 150 percent. The interiors are atmospheric and meticulously designed for comfort and privacy, and the owners are wonderful. With plenty of sports facilities, a sauna and a tennis court, this place truly stands out. We rarely revisit the same spot twice—this was our second time and definitely not the last. I recommend it, but sparingly 😆 because I want to be able to book a free date with Ms. Iwona! Thank you so much for your hospitality, see you soon! You’ve created an atmosphere that I already miss!'

Apartments in a Masurian guesthouse

Karolina, the owner, says this house is her greatest life project. The original building—with its private shoreline on Lake Nidzkie—was constructed by her grandparents, and she’s brought a cozy touch that draws visitors from all over Poland. You’ll find intimate two- and three-person rooms and apartments, a shared kitchen, a private pier, and that genuine sense of rest. Masuria, Poland, of course.

'The perfect spot to unwind. Right on the lake, with peace and quiet. The guesthouse has everything you need—even the welcome dog got its own bowls and a toy 🙂. The host was very friendly, open and professional. I said ‘see you soon’—I’ll definitely come back. Highly recommend 👍'

Guesthouse near Węgorzewo

Book here

This family-run guesthouse offers rooms on the upper floor. There are two playgrounds, including one that’s truly amazing, so if you’re traveling with kids, this is a great base. The hosts are in love with the area and know the best bike routes and sights—this region around Węgorzewo is a treasure trove of day-trip ideas, from the Stańczyki aqueducts to Hitler’s wartime headquarters and the mysterious pyramid in Rapa. They don't provide meals, but there's a kitchen you can use, and a nearby tavern delivers food at a discount. You can bring small pets.

'A charming spot. The view from the window is of mist-covered lake in the morning. Very nice rooms, a clean, modern bathroom. The place is spotless and well maintained. The kitchen is very well equipped, and each room has its own fridge in the kitchen. There’s a spa with a sauna and jacuzzi nearby. The owner is reachable by phone and very helpful. I recommend it!'

House for 6 guests

Discover Masuria

First in our list: Lake Szymonek in Masuria, Poland. The interiors are stunning, that’s undeniable, and guest reviews show both the house, lake access and friendly hosts make for a perfect stay. You get the house to yourself, with plenty of picnic spots, a hot barrel tub—it’s possible you won't have to leave the grounds at all. The owners live next door; if you have a dog, be sure to mark that when booking on Slowhop.

'What a beautiful place! Great for children—lots of space to run around and a safe area, even the little one loved the playground. Perfect also for dogs—the grounds are fenced. The house is beautifully furnished and well equipped. All around is quiet and peaceful, close to Ryn and Mikołajki. Huge thanks to the wonderful people who created this place! We’ll definitely come back <3'

Guesthouse in hilly Masuria

More info and booking

We have a soft spot for Lawendowo because it’s next to Slowhop’s summer headquarters and is one of the most beautiful spots in hilly Masuria. You do have to walk down to the lake, but it’s a pleasant stroll. The grounds are enormous, so you can have breakfast with neighbors then not see another guest all day. The interiors are beautiful and stylish—ideal for those sensitive to aesthetics and space. Bonus for a large area where both little guests and fluffy ones can play.

'Mrs. Wiesia and her team at Lawendowo deserve a PhD in creating conditions for deep rest. The grounds are breathtaking, everything at your fingertips, delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere. Quiet, peaceful, fully relaxing. When we return to the area, I see no reason to look for another place to stay.'

House with a private pier in hilly Masuria

View and book on Slowhop

This house is for anyone who prefers exclusive use. The hosts give guests their home but are available throughout the stay. Everything you need to feel at home away from home is here: a cozy atmosphere, private pier access, watercraft and bicycles. It’s like an all-inclusive with no crowds or race to grab a lounger. Well, you can reserve one if you like, but the only thing sitting on it might be a duck from the lake. The lake has a quiet zone—no one to shush like on a train. Enjoy peace and privacy.

'A beautiful place to relax and get away from daily life. The cottage is fully equipped and furnished tastefully. Next to it is what we called the “stable,” perfect for evening gatherings—brilliant idea by the hosts. The lake is stunning and clean in a quiet setting; we truly felt we had it all to ourselves. Watercraft and bicycles are available at any time, and the hosts are friendly yet discreet, always ready to help. We spent a wonderful week at Czarna Sosna and can only recommend it.'

House for 13 guests on the Brodnica Lake District

Book here

Justine and Stefan are architects based in Switzerland during the year. Their house on the Brodnica Lake District is their summer project, and it’s quite the attraction. It’s rare to find homes only 50 meters from the lake, especially with a sauna you can jump straight from into the water. Really, diving into the lake is the thing here—I highly recommend it.

'Our stay was wonderful, really :) We arrived as four couples and had more than enough space. The house is beautiful, spacious and tastefully decorated. It has everything you need, and the kitchen is better equipped than my own ;) It’s spotless, quiet, and the views are stunning. The weather was mild, so we didn’t try every activity, but we were happy to use the sauna :) The views from the sauna are amazing! If you’re hesitating, I’ll just say: both the cottage and the surroundings look even better in person than in the photos :) There’s nothing like expecting a great place and being positively surprised. Thank you for the stay!'
