“Life is unpredictable – eat dessert first.” It’s one of those folk bits of wisdom you remember when you head off to college. And though the metaphorical depth of that saying could send philosophers to the earth’s core, we suggest taking it literally for a moment. We’ve found slow stays in Poland that offer more than just ambiance and style—they serve desserts so divine your taste buds are on the brink of ecstasy. There, when asked “White chocolate and raspberry croissants or fruit pavlova with ice cream?” the answer is “yes.” Before you set off, one tip: pack elastic-waist pants, because these sweet masterpieces are worth every sin. **During the writing of this article, 1,789 extra calories were consumed.**

Anyone who’s been here knows. If you haven’t visited yet, clear some room in your stomach. This guesthouse in the Izera Mountains greets you with buttery eyes that seem to ask, “May I have a fifth helping?” No wonder: the food is made from top-quality ingredients under the slow food philosophy, and the flavor combinations are more inventive than the person who designed Queen Charlotte’s wigs in Bridgerton. Watermelon with chili oil, cilantro, mint, toasted cashews and crispy shallots? You’ll still pay extra for the last serving. And you can easily burn off the surplus calories—just step outside onto nearby mountain trails. Cherry on top: the place is ultra dog-friendly. To save Slowhops from having to remind you to book early, here are the last open summer dates.
“Łukasz and Piotrek have created a place with a warm, friendly atmosphere, and a stay at Kwieci lets you unwind, recharge and relax. When we arrived, we walked through charming blue doors into a beautiful garden and thoughtfully prepared rooms. It seemed it couldn’t get any better—then comes dinner. The food at Kwieci deserves its own review ;) It’s so delicious that we’ll miss these flavors and the locally sourced products that Łukasz and Piotrek serve. If you’re in the area, definitely stay at Kwieci. They’ll welcome you with open arms and plates full of goodness :) Thank you! :)”

Our UX designer Kasia wrote: “There’s dessert after breakfast here, and I respect that.” We immediately checked availability—this kind of care for happy taste buds speaks to us. This place is like pizza: everyone loves it—couples, families with kids, and solo travelers who enjoy pushing themselves on mountain adventures but appreciate cozy interiors and hearty meals on return. And desserts fit for royalty, maybe even an extra gym round. Did we mention these divine breakfasts are included? You can’t wait to book; rooms fill up as fast as their famous cakes, which people detour hundreds of kilometers to try—sometimes even 100 km off course.
“Wonderful place and amazing hosts. The guesthouse building has a mountain soul you feel from the moment you step inside. The small number of rooms makes you feel at home in one big family house. You can see how much heart went into every detail. Breakfasts are delicious and indulgent, just like home 😊 The pastries are from the best bakeries, and Marta’s cheesecake flavor will linger on our taste buds for a long time! The owners were fantastic, and Łukasz recommended great training routes nearby 😊 Beautiful, cozy, perfect for relaxation—we’ll definitely return and recommend it to friends 🥰”

Better pack a bib—there’s a whole pastry-scented attic here, right above the bakery. Hard to find a better spot for sweet lovers. Even those whose favorite dish is a pork chop might be tempted by the aroma of warm yeast cake with crumble the size of tangerines. Every meringue, tartlet or fruit mousse is a good reason to extend your stay by another night. Plus, there’s a large garden with hammocks and a lounge area, colorful breakfast, three adorable dogs ready for nonstop cuddles, and views of the Warmińskie hills that work like a natural antidepressant. You can cook yourself or hang up your apron and let the hostess work her magic—but don’t miss dessert. And almost forgot—dessert is included!
“A unique place. It’s hard to express how much heart you can feel at Zielone Wzgórze. It’s the perfect spot to disconnect, relax and listen to nature. The experience is completed by Mrs. Anna’s exquisite pastries. Just come and enjoy!”

Want a forest all to yourselves? Tired of holiday crowds? Here’s our tip: head to the remote cabin run by Ola and Ewa on the Bieszczady foothills in Poland’s Sanok-Turzań area. If a car passes by the fence once an hour, here it’s called “traffic.” Breakfast? Flexible service—you don’t have to spring out of bed if you stayed up star-gazing. Here, dinner means wholesome home-cooked meals blending Polish and Lemko cuisine. On warm weekends, the hosts organize Carpathian Dinners featuring regional specialties. This summer, why not try fuczki, hreczanyki or tertianiki? And for dessert: cheesecakes, sweet rolls and cakes that vanish faster than cell service in Stańkowa. For relaxation, enjoy the garden spa: a steam sauna and an outdoor hot tub.
“Charming place! Silence, calm, beautiful views, scrumptious food and the friendliest hostesses! You can completely switch off—either explore local attractions or enjoy on-site options. We had a wonderful time! We’ll definitely recommend and return :)”

It’s hard not to feel like someone built this for dessert-first people. The kitchen? A masterpiece. Regional dishes certified by KARPATING, tastes of the Beskids and portions that have you undoing a button with gratitude. And the desserts… oh, the desserts! Local cakes are legendary, and some say they’re worth driving half of Poland for. Here, they also serve warm bread with mushroom lard, wild berry preserves, extraordinary cakes, Jewish-style cabbage soup with tomatoes, cepeliny with sheep cheese, lamb pierogi, croissants, flatbreads, simple Galician warmth and hospitality. So, convinced? Wipe the drool and book a culinary retreat in the Low Beskids. PS if you catch the cooking bug, look for bread-baking workshops with the hostesses.
“Wysowa is a wonderful, beautiful place where we relaxed like never before! Perfect silence, calm, park outside the window, hiking trails ideal even for lazy strollers like us. The Old Spa House was perfect in every way, decorated with beautifully restored furniture (a treat for lovers of classic Polish ’50s and ’60s design!), very comfortable with its unique old-house atmosphere and ensuite bathrooms. Plus an outstanding, vegetarian-friendly kitchen—breakfasts were incredibly abundant and varied, lunches on the menu delightful, and desserts excellent. Very friendly, helpful staff and a hostess you can chat with about cooking, the area, or local upholsterers ;) Highly recommend for anyone who loves calm, good food and beautiful views!”

This place is for adults seeking a solid dose of hedonism. You can lounge in a robe all day, pet the cat, read in an old red-brick barn, and keep being surprised that it’s time for dessert again. The kitchen smells of fresh bread, garden vegetables, and something sweet cooling on the counter. Crumble with rhubarb, apple tart, chocolate cake—you never know what will show up but you know it will be delicious. Rumor has it that in moments of tasting euphoria, the promise of a second serving even comes with a vow to become a better person. Who’s up for a culinary-spiritual retreat?
“A perfect lazy getaway. A very cozy house and friendly atmosphere. We were fueled by the sight of beautiful interiors, red wooden floors, large lanterns, silence and purring cats. Super comfortable beds! Morning breakfasts were delicious (never seen such tall, crispy waffles) plus little details: perfect scrambled eggs and tasty house-baked bread. As I write this, I’m baking my own using tips from the hostess, who shared her trick for a crispy crust. We recommend it.”

Drop in for palace all-inclusive with archery lessons, local wine and pottery workshops. There’s plenty of warmth and good stories. Importantly, it’s intimate—only five apartments—but stylish, dog-friendly, and with a children’s animator so parents can actually finish their meals. Speaking of meals: breakfast is included in the (very reasonable for a palace) rate, and the flavors blend Mediterranean and Polish cuisine. Examples? Lobster risotto with shrimp, farm chicken breast with chanterelles, the host’s Italian tomato soup with mozzarella and basil, aromatic duck broth with homemade noodles from a family recipe or creamy porcini soup. And for sweet umami seekers: there’s a café on-site where the hosts are known for fruit tarts. Chances are you’ll eat a blueberry tart you’ll whisper about in your sleep. Bet on it?

Here, the kitchen puts on a show. At mealtime you think, “I had no idea this was even edible!” because Kasia and Bartek surprise you with experimental dishes. Example: young greenhouse radish caramelized in honey, served with blanched greens, Damascus rose vinegar and sea salt. Guests uniformly praise the “phenomenal food” and the hosts, who could wallpaper their living room with positive reviews. And desserts? They offer honey preserves, sweets and homemade pickles that competitors can only admire. Reviews often mention “one night turns into a full vacation” because no one gets bored—unless you fall asleep in a hammock after dessert. Don’t stray too far from the kitchen—you might catch an afternoon cooking workshop on foraged weeds. If you want to stretch full bellies further, the hosts can take you on a nature walk, point out solo picnic spots or suggest a route to quiet your racing mind. And remember: you get full board, as meals are included. Hurry up—they fill up fast, guests keep coming back.
“I have to admit this place is a little paradise. My first farm stay ever, and I was won over from minute one and my first meal. Latosowo is beautiful, peaceful and the tastiest place on earth. You can relax in the garden with a book, ask Bartek about Bug River day trips and not see crowds—just amazing birdlife—and watch the river flow. You can lie in a tub under the stars, with a purring cat beside you. This is a place to slow down and not want to go back to everyday life.”

Closer to Warmia? We’ve got dessert experts there too. Check out this old Warmian house near Lidzbark. On their farm, Paulina and Maks share the floors like Paweł and Gaweł—guests upstairs, hosts downstairs. Breakfast is served family-style at a communal table, and worries are sweetened with honey from their own apiary. Dessert training looks like this: you warm up with fluffy pancakes topped with seasonal fruits and edible flowers, then move on to waffles with homemade jam. When the table is ready for the main dessert, in rolls a chocolate cheesecake with strawberries. Don’t beat yourself up—we’ve heard disciplined palates and noses have surrendered to this culinary oblivion. Beyond the feast, the rest of your stay is pure slow living: hammocks, birdsong and full-on chill. Who’s in for that?
“Highly recommend! Paula and Maks created a place where you can relax in incredible silence, surrounded by nature, take a walk, and there’s also space for remote work. You can feel the heart in every detail. Plus, the food was delicious—go for the half-board option and maybe fast for a few days before to tackle the portions. A wonderful spot to escape and reset!”

We wrap up our sweet roundup at a guesthouse in the Izera Mountains that deserves culinary exaltation. Time moves slower here, cake disappears faster, and the terrace views are addictive. Start your stay with coffee and a fantastic cheesecake, then end with board games by the fireplace or soaking in the hot tub. The hosts? Culinary artists and social butterflies. They say it’s hard to decide what’s better: their home-made desserts or their sense of humor. Throw in lush green views, rustic interiors and a silence so pure it won’t even be spoiled by your third blueberry bun. Don’t worry if you make indecently enthusiastic sounds while eating—you won’t be the only one.
“A peaceful, secluded spot to escape city life. Cozy atmosphere and a friendly host who serves us breakfast each morning that would make even Gordon Ramsay jealous ;) Highly recommend, a great place solo or in a group!”
